The Yale University Library, serving all constituent schools, holds more than 15 million volumes and is the third-largest academic library in the United States. As of 2021, the university's endowment was valued at $42.3 billion, the second largest of any educational institution. In addition to a central campus in downtown New Haven, the university owns athletic facilities in western New Haven, a campus in West Haven, and forests and nature preserves throughout New England. While the university is governed by the Yale Corporation, each school's faculty oversees its curriculum and degree programs. Yale is organized into fourteen constituent schools: the original undergraduate college, the Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and twelve professional schools. Yale's faculty and student populations grew rapidly after 1890 with expansion of the physical campus and of scientific research programs. In the 19th century, the college expanded into graduate and professional instruction, awarding the first PhD in the United States in 1861 and organizing as a university in 1887. At first restricted to instructing ministers in theology and sacred languages, the curriculum began to incorporate humanities and sciences by the time of the American Revolution. The Collegiate School was established in 1701 by Congregationalist clergy of the Connecticut Colony. Founded in 1701, Yale is the third-oldest institution of higher education in the United States and one of the nine colonial colleges chartered before the American Revolution. Yale University is a private Ivy League research university in New Haven, Connecticut. Official seal used by the college and the university

It is very important to keep puppies warm for the first week to ten days of age. Low puppy temperatures for the first few weeks is also one of the biggest reasons for herpesvirus ** being able to successfully infect a litter. Hypothermia is the single greatest problem for infant puppies. Newborn puppies can’t generate their own body heat until they develop the shiver reflex at around two and half weeks. Chilling gravely reduces the puppy’s metabolism. Without external heat, it doesn’t take long for a puppy to become chilled. Puppies depend on their mom to maintain their body temperature. If it drops below 94☏, your puppy could be facing life-threatening hypothermia. At birth the puppy’s body temperature is the same as the mother’s, after delivery the core temperature will drops several degrees the body (rectal) temperature should fall between 95° and 99☏. Newborn puppies need warmth more than food. Incubator Care Unit $295 (big or small units) Incubators: On why you would need an incubator for your newborn pups. Tube feed and raised them to healthy beautiful puppies. I have had neonatal’s in an incubator for a week. You can leave a weak puppy in an incubator overnight and know it will be kept at exactly the right temperature. You can heat towels in the dryer or rice bags in the microwave. A puppy can go with out food for 24hrs, but cold can kill in under an hour.Īn Incubator with 105 F regulated temperature will bring a puppy from the brink of death to a squirming puppy who wants to nurse with in an hour. Energy that the puppy could used to get warm will be diverted to digest milk. Putting milk on board will stress the puppy further. The temptation is to get a bottle and feed some warm milk. If it is cold or there is no suckle response first order is to get it’s body temperature back up. It should be nice and warm and the puppy should start suckling. Small and weak puppies are the most vulnerable. A cold puppy will become lethargic and die in a matter of an hour or two. Smaller or weaker pups can end up in an area where there’s no heat and lose body temperature quickly. Puppies snuggle up to mother and keep warm but they also get pushed away from mother by competing pups. New born puppies can’t regulate the temperature for the first week, So they have to have a source of heat keep them from getting cold. The single biggest killer of puppies is cold. So for the first time a species is able to communicate about something which isn’t present, make plans for the distant future, and discuss an idea. The main difference, I feel, is the explosive development of the human intellect, which I suspect has been triggered in large part by the fact that we came up with this ability to communicate in the way that you and I are doing right now, with words. What has your study of chimpanzees impressed you with concerning the non-humanness of chimpanzees, and the ways in which they’re unlike us? In your work you’ve emphasized some of the connections between human beings and chimpanzees. I think people who really understand will perhaps tolerate it, knowing that so many people won’t understand at all without the narration. On balance, I think is okay, and some of it’s quite funny. But this is a film geared to the great big general public, including young people. Maybe in places the commentary could have been toned down a little bit. People who know nothing about the chimpanzees might have been very confused if there weren’t some commentary to help them understand, more or less in human terms, what was going on. And of course we don’t know what is going on in the chimpanzee mind. Well, yes, a lot of people have talked about that. Some people, including myself, felt the movie pressed the anthropomorphic angle too much - for example, the way it presented the two rival chimp groups almost as movie heroes and villains. How they share many of our emotions, and the way they think. People will see how like us chimpanzees are. And they’ll realize that baby chimps belong in their communities, and how cruel it would be to take them away from their mothers. They’ll realize that underneath the tough exterior of a male chimp can be a tenderness which we’ve recorded on a number of occasions.Īlthough they’ll fall in love with adorable little “Oscar,” people should also realize that he’ll grow up to be like the leader of, quote, the “enemy” chimp community, and they won’t think any longer about buying a baby chimp as a pet. They’ll come away totally in love with the infant who’s the star of the film, and moved by the tender side that emerges in the great big dominant alpha male. I think the whole thing taken together will give people a real feeling for what it’s like for chimpanzees out in the wild, and that will be new for most people. What misconceptions about chimpanzees do you think people still have? Will this film help to correct any of them? In your work you’ve upended a lot of misconceptions about chimpanzees and discovered behavior that no one suspected - some of which is in this film, like chimps hunting colobus monkeys. And then on top of all that, you’ve got this extraordinary story unfolding within the chimpanzee community - a behavior which is almost unheard of. It’s a mixture of unbelievably good cinematography, fantastic behavior of the chimpanzees, the incredible feeling the filmmakers have got for what it’s like to be deep in the forest, the spectacular views of the whole area from above. Well, it just puts them all in the shade. How does it compare to other chimpanzee documentaries you’ve seen? Jane Goodall: Oh yes, I have, and I would see it again. The death reason has so far been hinted at as being natural, but authentic and verifiable reports have yet to be revealed. His exact cause of death is still to get revealed yet. His untimely demise has left a significant vacuum in the film and art worlds that will take years to fill. He was brilliant and hilarious and charismatic… R.I.P” DFW’s caption accompanied an artistic rendering of Julien in his prime, depicting a classic scene from ‘TM.’ The new year began with such a devastating loss, causing many fans severe pain of separation from the legendary actor’s death. He was a great human being, and we had so many amazing conversations. Walker broke the news about Julien’s death in a social media post, honoring his friend. He was thought of as a rare ‘man among men’.” Comic book writer and film producer David F. He would live and speak his own truth both professionally and privately. In a statement, they say in part … “During Julien’s decades-long career, he was known for being bold, honest and straightforward. No one had shown that world - no one had portrayed the black underworld," he said.Max Julien, an actor famous for his leading role in the blaxploitation film ‘The Mack’ died on January 1, 2021, at the age of 88 as per his wife. In a 2013 interview with the Los Angeles Times, Campus said that when the film was shown in Oakland, people stood up and started screaming at the screen by the first scene. The film first screened in mostly Black markets, where it was a huge hit. In a 2002 documentary about the movie, titled Mackin' Ain't Easy, Julien noted that there was an air of sadness in his character, "because that's where I was as a human being, and I couldn't hide that. Directed by Michael Campus, the political movie examined the state of Black life in America. He played Goldie, an Oakland-based pimp ambitious to make it to the top. Julien brought those human qualities to his starring role in The Mack. But he bristled at how the label overshadowed the rest of his character: "The man also loved his mother, he loved his friends, he had human levels. "I didn't mind being called a militant, because I am a militant," Julien later said in a 1981 BET interview. While some critics called his character militant, Julien was ambivalent about the term. "He would live and speak his own truth both professionally and privately."īefore The Mack, Julien gained attention for his standout role in 1968's Uptight, where he took on the role of Johnny Wells, a Black revolutionary leader. While the condition may not affect ejaculation, you might wonder if the combination of Viagara and varicocele could affect your semen volume. Each drop of semen contains millions of sperm, although sperm make up only a tiny percentage of your ejaculate volume. Your testes produce sperm, which are pushed out from your penis in seminal fluid when you ejaculate. This fluid contains sugar, alkaline fluid and clotting factors, which allow your sperm to survive inside the vagina. Your seminal vesicles also produce fluid, which accounts for around 50 to 80 percent of the semen you ejaculate. Your prostate gland produces prostatic fluid, which is a milky, alkaline substance that allows your sperm to remain capable of movement. These components of seminal fluid are all produced in the different parts of your reproductive system: Seminal fluid provides your ejaculate with the majority of its volume and allows sperm to travel out from your urethra when you reach orgasm and ejaculate - so when you're thinking about how to produce more “cum” or how to increase “sperm volume,” what you're actually thinking about is seminal fluid. Let’s bust one big myth about man-bust right off the bat: seminal fluid isn’t just one thing, and seminal fluid and sperm aren’t the same things. How to improve your performance and maintain stronger erections.ĭon’t skip ahead to the big finish - there’s a lot to learn here. What to do if you’re not producing enough volume. What’s normal and why some men may produce less. Still self-conscious about how much you’re producing? Feeling the weight of light wads on your shoulder? Let us help you take that load off with some science about: And if you’re more focused on reality than fantasy, you should know that the amount of semen you ejaculate has nothing to do with fertility, pleasure or sexual performance. Like, where does it all come from? How do they get it? Why does it look suspiciously like the frosting from the Toaster Strudel commercials we all grew up with? Nothing about what we see in porn seems real, and the “final scenes” are no different.Īs with penis size and sexual stamina, porn is a bad arbiter for what is normal. Porn films have a lot of unrealistic content (see: number of threesomes in an “average” guy’s day - seriously, what’s up with that?), but today, we’re calling out the industry for something else: how it presents ejaculatory volumes on screen. But it is simply wrong to misrepresent your identity when engaged in due diligence or competitive intelligence gathering activities. It is both ethical and prudent for companies to keep confidential a contemplated transaction in some circumstances. I should have recognized that there is a significant moral chasm between a principled decision to remain silent and deliberate deception. I also regret it because, as corporate counsel, I should have known better. I don’t regret my participation in the false identity scheme just because it was a humiliating failure. What school do you teach in?” Not expecting to be subjected to such an inquisition, I was ill-prepared to respond and the manager took delight in the obvious discomfort his barrage of questions caused me. Clearly suspecting the ruse, the manager said, “Professor Nortz, it’s so nice to meet you. I was directed to pose as an engineering professor from the nearby Morgantown University.ĭespite my misgivings, the plant tour went well until my escort introduced me to an overly inquisitive production unit manager. The senior plant managers who were assisting us recommended we each assume a false identity. Our challenge was figuring out how to do this without letting the cat out of the bag. The two corporations who were party to this contemplated transaction agreed that it was premature to disclose the talks to either plant employees or shareholders.Īfter pouring through the documents in the data-room, the only thing left for us to do was to visit the plant. We were a due diligence team working on behalf of a multi-national corporation engaged in discussions with another company about the possible acquisition of their Morgantown chemical manufacturing facility. Huddled with seven colleagues in a dimly lit hotel room in Morgantown, West Virginia, and bleary-eyed from days of reviewing thousands of pages of documents, a clandestine plan was being hatched that I now regret being a part of.
